Wild Ireland offers sanctuary to many animals which have been exploited, abused and hunted into extinction in Ireland. The conservation park allows you to step back in time into an ancient woodland inhabited by some of Ireland’s lost wildlife. You will walk under a canopy of trees and encounter brown bears, wolves, lynx and wild boar on your journey through the native Celtic Rainforest. It may seem scarcely believeable today, but these animals once called Ireland home. Wolves, for example, where widespread in Ireland a few hundred years ago, when ireland was a wilderness widely covered in dense forest. As a result wolves feature strongly in Irish folklore, mythology and placenames. The last remaining wolf was hunted and killed in Ireland in 1786.

Through hunting and habitat destruction Ireland has lost much of it’s biodiversity. Wild Ireland is a Wildlife Park on a mission to make a change through Education, Conservation and Rescue. The children of today are the conservationists of the future.
